Sebastian Wright is a British documentary filmmaker and video journalist based in New York City, currently studying for an M.S. in Journalism at Columbia University, specialising in documentary.

His work focuses on human stories within wider political, social and cultural issues. He has produced documentaries across Mongolia, Poland and Peru, covering subjects including climate change, displacement, Indigenous rights and the legacy of political repression. His films include The Gobi, The Long Tomorrow: Poland’s Ukrainian Refugees and Quechua: The Voices of Peru’s Indigenous People, which won Best Short Documentary at the Madrid Film Awards in 2024.

Alongside his independent documentary work, Sebastian has worked across journalism, commercial production and startup media. Most recently, he led content at London-based AI company Tano, developing and producing documentary-style films that gained more than 300,000 views.

His work combines on-the-ground reporting with cinematography, editing and motion graphics to tell ambitious stories in an accessible and visually engaging way.
